Work out the tip and split the bill between friends, with optional rounding.
Tip = bill × tip percentage. Total = bill + tip. A 1,250 bill with a 10% tip is 125, a total of 1,375 — 343.75 each for four people.
The Tip Calculator works out the tip on a restaurant, café or service bill and splits the total between any number of people. Enter the bill, the tip percentage and the number of people, and the result updates as you type. You can round each share up or to the nearest whole amount for easier payment.
It works with any currency. In India, service charge may already be included in the bill — check before adding a tip. Customs differ: 5–10% is common in Indian restaurants, while 15–20% is typical in the US. For splitting fuel costs on a shared trip see the Fuel Cost Calculator.
The calculator multiplies, adds and divides.
| Bill, tip, people | Tip | Total | Per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,250 at 10%, 4 people | 125 | 1,375 | 343.75 |

| 850 at 5%, 2 people, rounded | 42 | 892 | 446 |
| 100 at 20%, 1 person | 20 | 120 | 120 |
| Bill | 5% | 10% | 15% | 18% | 20% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | 25 | 50 | 75 | 90 | 100 |
| 1000 | 50 | 100 | 150 | 180 | 200 |
| 1500 | 75 | 150 | 225 | 270 | 300 |
| 2000 | 100 | 200 | 300 | 360 | 400 |
| 5000 | 250 | 500 | 750 | 900 | 1000 |
Multiply the bill by the tip percentage. 10% of 1,250 is 125.
Customs vary: 5–10% is common in India when no service charge is included; 15–20% in the US.
Add the tip to the bill and divide the total by the number of people. The calculator does it automatically.
Find 10% by moving the decimal point one place, then add half of that. 15% of 840 is 84 + 42 = 126.
Either is acceptable; tipping on the pre-tax amount is slightly less. Use whichever you prefer as the bill amount.
Then an extra tip is optional. You can set the tip to 0 to just split the bill.
It rounds each person's share up (or to the nearest whole amount) and adds the difference to the tip, so everyone pays a round number.
Yes — it works with any currency, because it only does percentages.
This tool splits equally. For uneven splits, calculate each person's bill separately.
