Check whether AI search engines can find, understand and cite your website — and track whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews actually mention you.
Twelve tools for generative engine optimization (GEO): readiness checks that run instantly, and live visibility tracking that asks real AI engines your customers' questions.
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is making your website easy for AI search engines to find, understand and cite. Start with the AI SEO score for a 100-point readiness check, then use the AI crawler checker and llms.txt checker to fix access problems. To see whether ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity actually mention your brand, use the visibility trackers, which ask the engines your customers' questions and measure mentions and citations.
Websolindia built these tools around a simple idea: AI answers are only as good as the pages they can read. Most AI visibility problems are mundane — a robots.txt that blocks GPTBot, a firewall that returns errors to bots, missing structured data, or content with no clear answers to quote. The readiness tools find those problems in seconds.
The tracking tools work differently. They send real questions to the engines' official APIs and record whether your brand is named in the answer and whether your domain appears among the cited sources. Because AI answers vary from run to run, results are a sample, so the tools show counts and let you repeat the check over time.
Everything is explained on this page: what each score measures, which checks use a paid API, and what the limits are. Nothing here promises to put you in an AI answer — it shows you the factors you can control.
Pick a tool from the tabs above. This table shows what each one does and whether it needs an API key.
| Tool | What it does | Data source |
|---|---|---|
| AI SEO score checker | A 100-point readiness score for AI search: can AI crawlers reach you, do you publish llms.txt, is your structured data valid, is your content easy for an AI to quote, and do you show the trust signals AI engines look for. | Built-in — no API key |
| AI search visibility checker | Ask real AI search engines your customers' questions and measure how often they mention your brand and cite your website. | Needs an AI engine key |
| ChatGPT brand mention tracker | Track whether ChatGPT (with web search) mentions your brand, run after run. Each check is saved in this browser so you can see the trend. | Needs an AI engine key |
| Google AI Overviews visibility tracker | For each keyword, checks whether Google shows an AI Overview and whether your website is one of the sources it cites. | Needs DataForSEO |
| Gemini and Perplexity visibility tracker | Run your customer questions through Gemini (with Google Search grounding) and Perplexity, then compare how each one treats your brand. | Needs an AI engine key |
| AI crawler accessibility checker | Checks two things for every major AI and search crawler: what robots.txt says, and whether your server actually serves the page to that crawler's user-agent (firewalls and CDNs sometimes block bots even when robots.txt allows them). | Built-in — no API key |
| AI content readability analyzer | Scores how easy your content is for people and AI systems to understand and quote: reading ease, sentence and paragraph length, structure, direct answers and lists. | Built-in — no API key |
| Entity and topical authority checker | Looks at your site the way a knowledge graph does: is your organization defined, linked to trusted profiles, and does your content stay focused on a coherent set of topics across pages? | Built-in — no API key |
| Structured data and schema analyzer | Lists every schema.org item on a page, validates it, and suggests the markup this kind of page usually needs. | Built-in — no API key |
| AI citation and source tracking | See which websites AI engines cite when answering questions in your market — and whether yours is one of them. | Needs an AI engine key |
| AI-generated answer competitor comparison | Ask the same questions and see who AI engines recommend: your mention and citation share compared with up to four competitors. | Needs an AI engine key |
| llms.txt checker and generator | Checks your /llms.txt against the llms.txt format (title, summary, sections, link lists), verifies that every link works, and can generate a starter file from your site. | Built-in — no API key |
| Area | Points | How it is scored |
|---|---|---|
| AI crawler access | 20 | Share of five key AI crawlers (GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended) allowed by robots.txt |
| llms.txt | 10 | 10 if present and starting with a title heading, 5 if present but malformed, 0 if missing |
| Structured data | 20 | 8 for Organization/LocalBusiness/WebSite schema + 6 for a content type (Article, FAQ, Product…) + 6 if error-free (2 if there are errors) |
| Answer-friendly content | 20 | Question headings or FAQ (up to 7) + short paragraphs (up to 5) + lists or tables (4) + enough headings (up to 4) |
| Readability | 10 | Flesch reading ease 50+ earns 10, 30–49 earns 5, below 30 earns 2 |
| Entity and trust signals | 15 | sameAs profiles (up to 6) + author information (3) + About link (3) + contact details (3) |
| Freshness | 5 | Visible or schema modified date within 12 months |
Visibility is measured as mention rate (answers whose text names your brand or domain ÷ answers received) and citation rate (answers whose source list includes your domain ÷ answers received). The AI crawler checker tests each bot twice: what robots.txt says, and whether your server actually returns the page when it sends that bot's user-agent.
The readiness tools (AI SEO score, crawler access, readability, entity check, schema analyzer, llms.txt) need nothing. The tracking tools call the engines' official APIs from the server, so the site owner adds keys once.
| Provider | What it unlocks | How the site owner enables it |
|---|---|---|
| Perplexity, OpenAI and Google Gemini APIs | Live AI answers and the sources they cite — for visibility, citation and competitor comparison | perplexity_key, openai_key, gemini_key in config.php (any one is enough) |
| DataForSEO | Backlinks, search volume, keyword difficulty, live rankings, SERP features, competitor keywords and traffic estimates, Google Maps data | dfs_login and dfs_password in seo-tool/api/config.php |
| Topic | What to know |
|---|---|
| AI answers vary | The same question can produce different answers on different runs. Treat tracker results as a sample and repeat them over time. |
| Official APIs only | Trackers use each provider's search-enabled API, which can differ from the consumer chat apps. |
| Google AI Overviews | Read through a SERP data provider for one location and moment; overviews differ by user. |
| User-agent test | The crawler test sends each bot's published user-agent from our server. Firewalls that verify bots by IP address can behave differently for the real crawler. |
| llms.txt | llms.txt is a proposed convention, not a ranking factor, and not every AI system reads it. |
SEO aims to rank pages in a list of results. GEO aims to be included, quoted or cited inside an AI-generated answer. They overlap heavily: crawlable pages, clear structure, trustworthy authorship and good structured data help both.
It is your decision. Blocking training crawlers such as GPTBot or Google-Extended limits use of your content for model training; blocking search crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot or PerplexityBot can remove you from those engines' answers. The crawler checker shows exactly what you currently allow.
llms.txt is a proposed plain-Markdown file at /llms.txt that summarises your site and links to your best pages for AI systems. It is optional and not a ranking factor; the checker validates the format and can generate a starter file.
Common reasons are low authority or few third-party mentions, thin content, no clear entity signals, or crawler blocks. Run the AI SEO score and entity check, then build content and citations that answer the exact questions your customers ask.
Structured data does not guarantee citations, but it helps machines identify who you are and what a page is about. The schema analyzer lists what you have, validates it and suggests what is missing.
Monthly is a sensible rhythm for most businesses, using the same set of questions each time so results are comparable.
The built-in tools on this page are free and need no sign-up. Features that rely on third-party data (marked in the table above) only work when the site owner has connected that provider, because those providers charge per request. Visitors are never charged.
No. Addresses and keywords are used only to run your request and are not stored on our servers. A few tools save their own history (rankings, reviews, workspace data) in your browser's local storage so you can see change over time; clearing site data removes it.
Built-in checks read the public HTML your server returns and apply published rules, so they are repeatable and explainable. Estimates (traffic, visibility share, difficulty) are directional. Always confirm important findings in Google Search Console and your analytics.
They are built by the Websolindia team — a website design and SEO company in New Delhi, India, serving businesses since 2014. Every tool explains how it calculates results so you can check the logic.
