Check whether you are overweight and how far above the healthy range you are.
A BMI of 25 or more is overweight (23 or more for Asian populations). A 170 cm adult weighing 85 kg has a BMI near 29, about 12.8 kg above the healthy range.
The Overweight Calculator checks your BMI against the WHO cut-off (25) or the Asian cut-off (23). If you are above it, it shows how much weight lies above the healthy range, what 5% and 10% of your weight look like, and how long gradual change might take. If you are in or below the healthy range it tells you so and does not show any weight-loss numbers.
Even a loss of 5–10% of body weight can improve blood pressure, blood sugar and joint pain, and slow, steady change is easier to keep. Work out calories with the Calorie Calculator and TDEE Calculator, and get personal advice from a doctor or dietitian.
The calculator applies the standard published formulas step by step.

About 0.25–0.5 kg a week is usually considered gradual and sustainable.
No. Waist size and body-fat percentage add useful information, and muscular people may be 'overweight' by BMI without excess fat.
If your BMI is below the healthy range, no weight-loss figures are shown — please speak to a doctor.
Eating a balanced diet with fewer ultra-processed foods, being active and sleeping well help. Ask your doctor about the right plan.
