Add VAT to a net price or remove VAT from a gross price.
Net × (1 + VAT rate) = gross. At 20% VAT, a gross price of ₹1,200 is ₹1,000.00 before VAT plus ₹200.00 VAT.
Value-added tax (VAT) is charged on goods and services in more than 160 countries. This calculator adds VAT to a net (VAT-exclusive) price, or removes it from a gross (VAT-inclusive) price, and shows the VAT amount at whatever rate you enter. The default is 20%, the UK standard rate.
Check the correct VAT rate for your country and goods — many countries have reduced rates for some items. India uses GST rather than VAT; use the Sales Tax / GST Calculator for that. See also the Discount Calculator.
The calculator applies the standard financial formulas step by step.
