Count the calendar days or weekdays between two dates, or the days until or since a date.
Subtract the start date from the end date, then add 1 if you want to count both days. From 1 January to 31 December 2026 that is 364 days, or 365 counting both ends.
The Day Counter answers the simplest date question — how many days? — in two ways. The first tool counts the days between any two dates, with options to include the end date and to show weekdays only. The second works as a countdown: it tells you how many days remain until a future date, or have passed since a past one, using today's date from your device.
It suits project deadlines, exam countdowns, trip planning, notice periods, sobriety or habit streaks, and anniversaries. For years, months and days together use the Date Calculator.
The counter works on whole calendar days, using UTC midnight so daylight saving cannot change the answer.
| Count | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 Jan to 31 Dec 2026, both days counted | 365 days |
| Weekdays from 2 Mar to 13 Mar 2026 (end excluded) | 9 days |
| 15 Aug to 2 Oct 2026 | 48 days |
| 25 Dec 2025 to 1 Jan 2026, both days counted | 8 days |
Conventions differ. Legal and contract periods often exclude the first day; hotel nights count the nights between dates; event programmes often count both days. Choose the option that matches your document. For example, Monday to Friday is 4 days apart, but 5 days if you count both Monday and Friday.
Subtract the start from the end date. The Day Counter shows the total plus weeks and days, and the number of weekdays and weekend days.
It depends on the rule you follow. “Between” normally excludes one end; “inclusive” counts both. Tick the box to include the end date.
Tick “Show weekdays only (Mon–Fri)”. Public holidays are not known to the tool, so subtract them yourself.
Use the second tool: enter the date and it shows the days remaining, the weeks and days, and the years, months and days from today.
Enter a past date in the second tool. It shows how many days ago that was.
365 days, or 366 in a leap year. 2026 has 365 days; 2028 is the next leap year.
364 days if you exclude one end and 365 if you count both days (366 in a leap year).
The count is from today's date to the date you enter. If they are the same day, it shows “Today!”.
The calculator swaps them and tells you, so the answer is always positive.
