Subtract the date of birth from the date you want the age on — years first, then months, then days, borrowing when a unit goes negative. Example: born 15 May 2000, on 20 August 2025 the age is 25 years, 3 months, 5 days.
The Age Calculator tells you how old a person is on any date you choose. Enter a date of birth, keep the second date as today (or pick a past or future date) and the tool returns the age in years, months and days. It also shows the same span as total months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds, the weekday you were born, and when the next birthday falls.
The calculator follows the age system used in India and most of the world: your age increases by one on each birthday. Everything is calculated in your browser, so the dates you type are never uploaded or stored. This free tool is built by Websolindia, a website design and digital marketing company in New Delhi.
The calculator uses the anniversary method, which matches how people naturally count: Feb 20 to Mar 20 is one month, no matter how many days February has.
Months have uneven lengths, so a start date at the end of a month can be counted two ways. From 28 Feb 2022 to 31 Mar 2022 we count 28 Feb → 28 Mar as one month and then 3 extra days. For people born on 29 February, the anniversary in non-leap years is treated as 28 February.
| Date of birth | Age on | Result | Total days | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 15 May 2000 | 20 August 2025 | 25 yr 3 mo 5 d | 9,228 | A typical case |
| 28 February 2022 | 31 March 2022 | 0 yr 1 mo 3 d | 31 | Month-end start: Feb 28 to Mar 28 is one month, plus 3 days |
| 31 January 2024 | 1 March 2024 | 0 yr 1 mo 1 d | 30 | Born on the 31st: February's anniversary is its last day |
| 29 February 2000 | 28 February 2025 | 25 yr 0 mo 0 d | 9,131 | Leap-day birthday: treated as 28 Feb in non-leap years |
| 15 August 1947 | 15 August 2025 | 78 yr 0 mo 0 d | 28,490 | Exactly 78 years — a full-year anniversary |
| 1 January 2000 | 1 January 2026 | 26 yr 0 mo 0 d | 9,497 | Exactly 26 years |

Most countries, including India, count age from birth and add a year on each birthday — the method this calculator uses. Some traditional East Asian systems start at 1 at birth and add a year at the new year instead. South Korea officially moved to the international system in June 2023.

Subtract your date of birth from the date you want the age on. Take the difference in years first, then months, then days, borrowing from the larger unit when a smaller one goes negative. For example, someone born on 15 May 2000 is 25 years, 3 months and 5 days old on 20 August 2025. The calculator above does these steps for you instantly.
It counts whole months from the date of birth — the same day of each following month — and then counts the leftover days. If the birth day does not exist in a month (for example the 31st in February), that month's last day is used. So 28 Feb 2022 to 31 Mar 2022 is 1 month and 3 days.
In years that are not leap years, this calculator treats 28 February as the anniversary. A person born on 29 Feb 2000 is therefore exactly 25 years old on 28 Feb 2025. Different countries and authorities treat leap-day birthdays differently in law (some use 28 February, others 1 March), so check the rule that applies to your form.
Yes. Change the “Age at the date of” field to any date on or after the date of birth. This is useful for checking eligibility on an admission, exam, job or pension cut-off date.
The “Total days” row shows the exact number of days between your date of birth and the chosen date. Weeks, hours, minutes and seconds are derived from that day count.
They are based on whole days, counted from midnight to midnight, because the calculator does not ask for your time of birth. Hours = days × 24, minutes = days × 1,440 and seconds = days × 86,400.
Age is the length of time elapsed since birth, so the day you were born counts as day zero. Your age increases by one on the morning of your birthday, which is the standard system used in India and most countries.
In the international system, you are 0 at birth and add a year on each birthday. Older East Asian systems start at 1 at birth and add a year at the new year rather than on the birthday. South Korea officially switched to the international system in June 2023. This calculator always uses the international system.
Yes — set “Age at the date of” to the cut-off date in the notification and read the result. Always confirm how the issuing authority rounds or counts age, because some bodies have their own rules for the exact day.
The calculator finds the next occurrence of your birth day and month after the chosen date, shows its weekday, and counts the days remaining. If the chosen date is your birthday, it tells you so and shows the following one.
