How do I use the Rotate Image?

To rotate an image online, add your photo, use the left or right buttons for quarter turns or drag the angle slider for a small tilt, flip it if needed, check the preview and press Apply. Quarter turns are exact pixel moves with no quality loss for lossless formats. Nothing is uploaded.

About the Rotate Image Online by Websolindia

Fix sideways photos, mirror a picture, or straighten a crooked horizon. Quarter turns move pixels exactly; free angles can expand the canvas so nothing is cut off. It is a free tool from Websolindia, a New Delhi website design and SEO company that builds fast, image-optimised websites.

Unlike most online image tools, this one does not upload your pictures. Your browser decodes each image, applies the edit with our own pixel code and shows a live preview before you download. You can process up to 30 images at a time and download them one by one or together as a ZIP.

Once your image is ready, you may also want the Square Image Cropper Online, the JPG Image Resizer Online or the Add Border to Image Online. All of our free image tools are listed in the Image Editing Tools Online collection and the Websolindia Image Converter.

When to Use the Rotate Image

  • Photos that opened sideways or upside-down.
  • Straightening a slightly tilted horizon or scanned document.
  • Mirroring selfies or product images.
  • Preparing images for layouts that need a specific orientation.

What to Watch For

  • Free angles resample the image, which softens it very slightly. Quarter turns do not.
  • Rotating by an angle that is not a multiple of 90° creates empty corners: they are filled with a colour, or are transparent when you save as PNG or WebP.
  • Saving a rotated JPG re-compresses it. Use PNG for a lossless result.
  • Camera orientation tags are applied first, then removed, so the saved picture displays the same everywhere.

How We Process Your Images — Our Method

This is exactly what happens to your image, with no hidden step. You can check that nothing is uploaded by watching your browser's network tab while you use the tool.

How the Rotate Image works, step by step
StepWhat happens
1. Read and decodeThe photo is decoded and its camera orientation applied.
2. Flip (optional)Horizontal and vertical flips swap pixel positions exactly.
3. RotateMultiples of 90° move pixels exactly. Other angles use inverse mapping with bilinear sampling on premultiplied colours.
4. Size the canvasWith 'Expand' on, the canvas grows to W′ = |W cos θ| + |H sin θ| by H′ = |W sin θ| + |H cos θ| so nothing is cropped.
5. Fill and encodeNew corners are transparent or filled with your colour, then the image is saved in your chosen format.

Rotate Image Online — Frequently Asked Questions

How do I rotate a picture 90 degrees?

Add it and press 'Rotate right 90°' or 'Rotate left 90°', then Apply.

Does rotating reduce quality?

Quarter turns and flips do not change any pixel. Other angles resample the image slightly. Saving as JPG adds JPG compression; PNG does not.

How do I straighten a crooked photo?

Drag the angle slider by a small amount (for example 1 to 3 degrees) and watch the preview, then Apply. Keep 'Expand the canvas' on, or crop afterwards.

What happens to the corners?

They are filled with the colour you choose, or left transparent if you tick transparent corners and save as PNG or WebP.

Can I flip an image?

Yes: tick Flip horizontally or Flip vertically, or use the flip buttons.

Can I rotate many images at once?

Yes. The same rotation is applied to every image you add, and you can download a ZIP.

Is the Rotate Image Online free to use?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, adds no watermark and has no daily limit. It is provided by Websolindia.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Your images are read and processed inside your browser on your own device. They are never sent to Websolindia or anyone else, which is why the tool is safe for private photos.

Does the tool keep EXIF and location data?

No. New files are created from the pixels, so camera details, GPS location and other embedded metadata are not copied. Keep your originals if you need that information.

How many images and how large can they be?

Up to 30 images per batch and 150 MB per image. Images above roughly 120 megapixels are declined with a clear message rather than freezing your browser.

Which browsers and devices does it work on?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers, phones and tablets. Large images and AI or AVIF features run faster on a computer.
