How do I use the JPG Image Resizer?

To resize a JPG online, add your photos, choose Pixels or Percentage, enter the width and height (leave one empty to keep the proportions) and press Apply. Pick Fit, Exact, Fill or Padding for how a fixed size is applied. Resizing uses a Lanczos filter in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

About the JPG Image Resizer Online by Websolindia

Resize JPG photos to the exact size a website, form or social network asks for. Set pixels or a percentage, choose how proportions are handled, or start from a ready-made preset. It is a free tool from Websolindia, a New Delhi website design and SEO company that builds fast, image-optimised websites.

Unlike most online image tools, this one does not upload your pictures. Your browser decodes each image, applies the edit with our own pixel code and shows a live preview before you download. You can process up to 30 images at a time and download them one by one or together as a ZIP.

Once your image is ready, you may also want the PNG Image Resizer Online, the Image Compressor to Under 100 KB or the Square Image Cropper Online. All of our free image tools are listed in the Image Resizer & Cropper Tools collection and the Websolindia Image Converter.

When to Use the JPG Image Resizer

  • Social media posts, covers and thumbnails that need exact pixel sizes.
  • Passport-style and ID photos at a specific pixel size.
  • Making large camera photos smaller for web pages, email and presentations.
  • Preparing a size first, then using the Image Compressor to Under 100 KB to meet a file-size limit too.

What to Watch For

  • Enlarging a small photo cannot add detail; it will look soft. Switch on 'Never enlarge' to avoid accidental upscaling.
  • Pixels are not centimetres: print size depends on resolution. At 300 pixels per inch, 35 × 45 mm is 413 × 531 pixels.
  • 'Exact size' stretches the picture if its proportions differ; use Fit, Fill or Padding to keep them.
  • Output is always JPG; transparent images are filled with a background colour.

How We Process Your Images — Our Method

This is exactly what happens to your image, with no hidden step. You can check that nothing is uploaded by watching your browser's network tab while you use the tool.

How the JPG Image Resizer works, step by step
StepWhat happens
1. Read and decodeThe image is decoded and its camera orientation applied.
2. Work out the target sizeFrom your pixels or percentage, the target width and height are computed; if one side is empty it follows the original proportions.
3. Apply the fit modeFit scales inside the box; Exact stretches; Fill scales to cover and crops the overflow evenly; Padding fits inside and fills the rest with your colour.
4. Resample with Lanczos-3Each output pixel is a weighted average of nearby source pixels using a Lanczos-3 filter, with the filter widened when shrinking to avoid aliasing.
5. Encode as JPGThe result is saved as a JPG at your quality setting.

JPG Image Resizer Online — Frequently Asked Questions

How do I resize a JPG without changing its proportions?

Enter only the width or only the height, or choose Fit. The other side is calculated automatically.

What is the difference between Fit, Exact, Fill and Padding?

Fit keeps proportions and stays inside the size. Exact forces the size and may stretch. Fill covers the size and crops the overflow. Padding keeps the whole picture and adds coloured bars.

What size should a passport photo be in pixels?

A 35 × 45 mm photo at 300 pixels per inch is 413 × 531 pixels. Always check the exact requirements of the office or form you are using.

Does resizing reduce quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp when done well; this tool uses a Lanczos filter for that. Making it larger cannot create detail.

Can I resize many photos at once?

Yes, up to 30 at a time with the same settings, downloadable as a ZIP.

I need a PNG with transparency. Which tool?

Use the PNG Image Resizer Online, which keeps transparent areas.

Is the JPG Image Resizer Online free to use?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, adds no watermark and has no daily limit. It is provided by Websolindia.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Your images are read and processed inside your browser on your own device. They are never sent to Websolindia or anyone else, which is why the tool is safe for private photos.

Does the tool keep EXIF and location data?

No. New files are created from the pixels, so camera details, GPS location and other embedded metadata are not copied. Keep your originals if you need that information.

How many images and how large can they be?

Up to 30 images per batch and 150 MB per image. Images above roughly 120 megapixels are declined with a clear message rather than freezing your browser.

Which browsers and devices does it work on?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers, phones and tablets. Large images and AI or AVIF features run faster on a computer.

Who made this JPG resizer?
